WHAT ORGANIZATIONS DO WE SUPPORT?

The Granite City Electric Charitable Foundation was created on August 3, 2007 to assist charitable efforts within the New England communities in which Granite City Electric Supply Company operates. APPLICATION PROCESS

1. Tax Exempt Status Validation

As you may be aware, private foundations may only grant funds to charitable organizations who are tax exempt under Internal Revenue Code 501(c)(3). Accordingly, we are required by law to validate your tax exempt status. We accomplish this by asking you to provide us with your Federal Employer Identification Number (EIN). We electronically validate your EIN against an IRS database of qualified charities.

2. What If Your Organization is Not Tax Exempt

The Granite City Electric Supply Charitable Foundation can not offer assistance to organizations who are not tax exempt under IRC 501(c)(3). However you may wish to explore partnering with another tax exempt organization who may be willing to sponsor you with your application. Granite City Electric Supply Charitable Foundation will allow applications to be applied for by such a fiscal sponsor, using their EIN. And if a donation is awarded it would be awarded to the fiscal sponsor. It would be up to you and the fiscal sponsor to work out the details of such a partnership.

3. Are There Any Exceptions?

If your organization is tax exempt, but for some reason your EIN could not be validated by our system, you may still be able to apply. This situation may occur if your organization is new and your EIN had not been registered by the IRS system yet. Or, you may be a representative from a city, town or school and our system did not recognize your EIN. If this type of situation occurs, simply email the: GCE Charitable Foundation and we will be happy to help you.
