GRANITE CITY ELECTRIC BRINGS THE JOY BACK TO MUDVILLE

Granite City Electric is proud to announce that Holliston (MA) is the winner of Granite City’s first annual “Field of Dreams” contest. Cities and towns from New England were invited to submit an essay telling why their youth playing field should receive a complete Hubbell Sports Lighting package, with installation provided by Glynn Electric of Plymouth (MA). The winner was determined by voting on Granite City’s website and over 75,000 votes were cast.

When Phyllis Godwin, owner and CEO of Granite City Electric, announced the winner on WEEI radio, she said “We were overwhelmed with the response. Congratulations to Holliston, they put an enormous effort into their campaign. Granite City Electric along with Hubbell Sports Lighting and Glynn Electrical contractors hope to bring the joy back to Mudville.”

Holliston’s submission was a re-creation of the famous poem “Casey At The Bat”, quite fitting for the town which claims to be the original Mudville. Randy Horne of Holliston who played a major role in the organization of their campaign said it was “A huge team effort of everyone in town, and that was the exciting part of it. Everyone worked hard to get out the vote.”

Granite City Electric is the official distributor of electrical supplies for the Boston Red Sox. Steve Helle, president of Granite City said, “We lit Fenway Park and now we are happy to have the opportunity to light a ballfield so girls and boys will have the thrill of playing under the lights.”

Granite City’s interest in supporting community organizations spans a variety of causes. The company is a major sponsor of Joshua’s Run which benefits the Dana Farber Hospital, the Jimmy Fund, Habitat for Humanity, WORK INC. and the YMCA. Children’s sports have been a major focus and many Granite City people coach teams in their home towns.

Granite City Electric, with headquarters in Quincy (MA), has 18 full service locations in New England. Visit Granite City on the web at www.granitecityelectric
