GRANITE CITY ELECTRIC OPENS A NEW FACILITY IN BRATTLEBORO, VT.

Granite City Electric Supply Company has moved into its new $1 million building at Exit One Industrial Park in Brattleboro, Vermont. “Brattleboro has always been a target market for us,” said Greg Smith, regional manager. “It gives us the ability to serve our customers in Brattleboro and because of I-91 it allows us to serve customers in a 60 mile radius north and south.”

The Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation (BDCC) was instrumental in helping Granite City locate temporary quarters and later helped with the purchase of the property at Exit One. “BDCC was responsive, easy and business friendly and adapted to our needs which allowed us substantial growth in our temporary location,” said Greg Smith. “We are happy to be in our new 14,000 square foot building with its easy access to I-91.” Granite City Electric currently has 19 locations serving 4 New England states.

“We are excited about the potential for the future and will hopefully see expansion in the Brattleboro area in the next five years,” predicted Smith. Granite City initially employed three people in Brattleboro but that number has risen to six and Smith said he hopes to grow to 10 or 11 employees in the next few years.
