Quincy Cares for Hurricane Katrina Victims
September 17, 2005
Quincy, MA
The Quincy Cares fund-raising effort hopes to raise $1,000,000 to help the residents of hurricane-ravaged Jefferson Parish, LA. A $12,000 donation by the employees of Granite City Electric pushed the initiative into the six-figure range.
The fund raising effort is specifically targeting Jefferson Parish because baseball players and families from that county have traveled to Quincy twice in the last three years for the 14-year old Babe Ruth World Series. This year the Jefferson Parish team won the tournament championship just a day before Hurricane Katrina struck.
