Field of Dreams IV Lighting Ceremony
On Saturday May 1st Granite City Electric Supply “lit up” its fourth consecutive little league field through their Field of Dreams Sweepstakes.
The atmosphere of Bridgewater’s lighting ceremony was one of excitement and gratitude. After winning the sweepstakes back in ’08, the Bridgewater Girls’ Softball League was filled with a newfound sense of ambition and pride. The organization spent the next year and a half constructing a softball complex from the ground up that would compliment their new set of lights. Countless volunteers dedicated a great deal of time and energy to build their own field of dreams.
Bridgewater built what seemed like a town holiday around the May 1st lighting ceremony, where the lights would be seen in action for the first time. People of all ages turned out to celebrate with dunk tanks, face painting, contests, raffle prizes and a DJ. Even Wally, the beloved Red Sox mascot, stopped by to take pictures, sign autographs and play games with the kids.
As dusk approached everyone was excited to finally watch Phyllis “flip the switch.” The anticipation grew as the kids counted down from ten and soon it was finally the moment they had all been waiting for. The crowd applauded and cheered as the lights flickered to life. Minutes later the entire complex was glowing, ready for the girls to take the field for their first game under the lights.
Special thanks to Reflex Lighting for providing the lighting system and Glynn Electric of Plymouth, MA for installing the lights.
