Granite City Announces FOD III Winner

Town of Whitman, MA to Receive $100,000 Outdoor Lighting Package

Quincy, MA - Granite City Electric Supply Company, New England’s leading independent electrical distributor, announced the town of Whitman, Massachusetts as the winner of the Field of Dreams III Sweepstakes. Whitman will receive a fully installed outdoor lighting package for one of their junior baseball/softball fields, a prize worth approximately $100,000.

This year’s winner was announced live on September 26th during NESN’s Red Sox pre-game show at Fenway Park by Granite City Electric’s owner and CEO Phyllis P. Godwin. “We are so thrilled to know that the children of Whitman will have the fun of playing under the lights,” said Godwin. “It is a great feeling to give back to our communities and we are delighted to join forces with Matt Glynn (owner of Plymouth’s Glynn Electric) and Paul Mustone (of Reflex Lighting in Boston), who have generously donated the installation and lighting fixtures for this program.”

Christopher Johnson, President of Whitman’s Baseball/Softball Association, was on hand for the winning announcement. “This is awesome,” commented Johnson. With approximately 780 boys and girls in the Whitman league a large percentage of the town’s population will get to experience baseball/softball under the lights.

This year’s Field of Dreams Sweepstakes had 12 New England towns as finalists. Second place was awarded to Abington, MA which will receive $1,000 donation from Granite City Electric to use toward their lighting fund. And a third place, $500 donation from GCE was awarded to Belchertown, MA. The remainder of the finalists will each receive a team sponsorship from GCE.

The Field of Dreams Sweepstakes is in its third year. Previous winners were the towns of Pembroke, MA (2005) and Holliston, MA (2004).
