PHYLLIS GODWIN RECOGNIZED IN 2008

Quincy, MA - Granite City Electric Supply Company’s CEO, Phyllis Godwin, received recognition in 2008 from various organizations for her business acumen and pioneering fortitude. Phyllis received recognition this year from organizations in the education sector, general business field, as well as the electrical distribution industry.

The New England chapter of the Family Firm Institute and the Northeastern University Center for Family Business, paired up to create the annual Massachusetts Family Business of the Year Awards. These awards spotlight the most successfully run and managed family-owned companies in Massachusetts. Phyllis was honored this year in the category of companies between the size of 50 and 250 full-time employees.

Each year the Suffolk University Alumni Association takes time during its Alumni Weekend to honor four of its graduates with Outstanding Alumni Achievement Awards. This year the Sawyer Business School recognized its 1981 Executive MBA program graduate, Phyllis Godwin, for making Granite City Electric a New England icon.

The National Association of Electrical Distributors Women in Industry awarded its first Trailblazer Award to Phyllis. This award was created to acknowledge female leaders inside NAED who champion for diversity and inspire progressive opportunities in the electrical distribution industry. Trailblazer Award winners have taken a leading position for the support and advancement of women inside the industry. Phyllis was the natural choice to be the inaugural recipient of this award.
